Tim's True Loves Waits Ceremony

Last Sunday, February 15 was a special day for our family. Tim, along with over 30 other teens at church, chose to participate in a True Loves Waits Ceremony. They'd been studying the book of the Bible Song of Solomon in church for 7 weeks on Sunday mornings and made a decision to wait until marriage for intimacy. As part of the ceremony, Kraig and I gave Tim a sterling silver ring (that he picked out) engraved with the words "true love waits". We are so proud of him and ask each of you to join us in praying for him and for his future wife!

This is hard to read, but here's the order of service for the ceremony, which followed a dinner for all the teens and families. The ceremony included a young couple from church that shared about their struggles after not waiting, Pastor Brent shared his experience of he and his wife both waiting for marriage and why, as well as time of worship, scripture, drama and video.

Kraig and I signed a parent covenant. Tim signed a student covenant. Each one will be in a frame in his room.
Tim also signed this covenant which is hung in the youth center at church

A picture of Tim's ring on the table

I actually put the ring on his finger (Tim's so tall you can't even see me)

Tim then gave each of us a red rose and let us give him a hug. Pastor Brent (youth pastor) is on the right side of the picture.

A picture of all of us afterward.

Thanks for sharing about this! It really sounds like a memorable evening. I was telling Chuck about it today, and it got his wheels spinning. He might be contacting you for some info! ;) Sounds like you've got a great church there. Also, I think Tim's grown about three inches since I last saw him!
