marathon

no...i am not running a marathon, nor do i ever plan to...

as many of you know, when michael was a baby, kraig and i did a homebuilders Bible study with our small group. one week for homework we were to come up with a way to ensure we spend time together regularly as a couple (without kids). during that time we decided to go on 2 dates each month plus a getaway for at least a weekend each year. we've been faithful for the past 10 years and since living here we've enjoyed spending our friday afternoons together during the school year.

a week ago friday we knew we may not get a chance for another date in a while with the holidays and upcoming move, so kraig took the entire day off (i usually have fridays off already) so we could have a marathon date! after sleeping late and getting the house ready for the inspection (just a minor interruption in our date, but we still enjoyed that time together), we went to the movie fireprooof (finally!!). we'd seen it in june at the saddleback worship conference, but hadn't gotten to the theatre to see it since the release. of course i cried as much this time as the first. if any of you haven't seen it yet and it's still playing in your area, make time to go! it will be out on dvd the end of january.

after the movie we went home for a brief time with the boys and to bring them mcdonalds for supper (they loved that!) and then drove back to the theatre to meet some friends to see another movie!

our second movie was four christmases, which had some extremely hilarious moments, but leave it to Hollywood to add some needless crude humor. following the movie the four of us enjoyed dinner at a local italian place we'd yet to dine at (and we're running out of time for those places).

i have to say, our marathon date was wonderful! hopefully this week we'll have a long lunch date with a lot of time together to talk.
