House For Sale...Was For Sale

One if the big questions these days in a move is, "will the house sell?" We were concerned, but felt like this whole move has been orchestrated by God and that the pressure wasn't on us, it was on God. If He wanted us to move, He'd have to work out the details. Well, that concern seems to have been taken care of quickly.

Our house was listed on the web (MLS) on Tuesday, Nov. 18. On Friday, November 21, we flew out to Cleveland to candidate at the church, do some house-hunting and show the boys Cleveland. That night, we were getting ready to meet Pastor Dan and his family (Pastor of the church we are going to-PHBC) for supper .

Our realtor called and excitedly said we had a great offer. She faxed it to us, and it was a full price offer with no contingencies. After supper we actually received a second offer, but not a very good one compared to the first. We signed the papers for the full-price offer and faxed them back. Pretty incredible - four days on the market and, "SOLD!"

BUT THEN we found out yesterday...

The buyers had a misunderstanding with their lender. The short version is, they should have made it contingent upon selling their house. But a very cool thing happened. A different couple convinced our realtor to show the house while we were gone even though we had accepted an offer. They actually looked at it two times.

Today, after 36 hours of negotiations and waiting (and that first buyer thinking they had an offer on their home but it didn't work out), we accepted a full offer from this third buyer and are able to rescind the first offer since they added a contingency. The only glitch is, they can't close on our house until January 20. Then we called our realtor in Cleveland and gave her our second counter offer to the seller's second counter offer. About an hour later they accepted and we will close on that house on January 21 and take possession the evening of January 24. So, by 8:00 tonight we had completed the offer of our house and had an accepted offer on a home in Cleveland. What a day!!! We'll post some pics of the new home tomorrow!

I am so happy (ecstatic) for you guys and the sale of your house. (I'm trying very hard to not be jealous as well! We were still messing with Cedar Rapids (again) yesterday.)
